Free paper cups for office coffee drinkers

Marketing & Advertising Published on 7 April 2009 in Marketing & Advertising

If free notebooks and notepaper are both effective ways to get a message in front of college students' eyes, what would be the closest equivalent for office workers? The ubiquitous coffee cup seems like a pretty good guess, and it's also precisely the medium used in the latest round of free love with advertising.

FreePaperCups provides just that to corporate customers across the US through an arrangement with both advertisers and suppliers. Specifically, operating through an exclusive national network of office coffee service providers, FreePaperCups works with advertisers to provide the cups to companies for free in exchange for branding them with sponsors' messages. The result? Advertisers get their brands in front of consumers and business decision makers in offices, conference rooms, break rooms and corporate dining facilities across the nation; companies get to eliminate the expense of buying the cups themselves; and participating coffee services get to offer more competitive pricing.

Once again, free love is a win-win-win for everyone involved. One to continue emulating whenever, wherever possible! ;-) (Related: Free love at the food courtMore free photocopying, this time for charity.)

Comments on this idea:

While I applaud the idea of expanding the market for free cups from convenience stores and coffee shops out to everyone else, I think paper cups are wasteful, especially in an office environment, and freepapercups will get a lot of backlash from greenies like me.

Definitely wasteful, yes. Maybe they'll be able to get some long-term advertisers interested in sponsoring free mugs?

You know for whom it's NOT a "win-win-win"? The environment - both from whence that paper cup came and the local, overflowing landfill to which it will undoubtedly go. Shame on Springwise for touting this supposedly "innovative concept". Not what I've come to expect from your site.

KeepCup is a wisely priced alternative to the disposable paper cup. It is a reusable cup designed specifically for the takeaway coffee market - wwww.keepcup.com Corporates can brand the cups to promote their CSR by saving millions of disposable cups from landfill each year.

what a waste, im glad fed ex and others attached their name to this silly idea. your at work and you need a disposable cup? bring a ceramic cup from home and save the trash heap

I think its a pretty nice concept, taking Free Love to the office environment.
Its a win-win situation for advertisers foe sure & in these recessionary times it'll be beneficial for the companies too as these days they are trying to cut costs wherever possible.
Overall i Love this idea & adds one more to the Free Love trend. :)
