Bakbuk is an elastic band that fits around the plastic beverage bottle and optimally reduces the size of the bottle by 80 per cent when the beverage is finished. It can be applied to all PET bottles and is completely recyclable.

Bakbuk supports every player in the recycling process: the consumer, the recycling company, and the beverage manufacturers. For the consumer, it is straightforward to use and reduces the number of trips to the recycling bin by five, due to the reduction in plastic size. This applies to the recycling company too and, in turn, diminishes transportation and compacting costs. For the beverage manufacturers, it offers a push towards achieving sustainable development goals, participation in the circular economy and a solution relevant to customers.

The product has already received approval from many consumers, according to market research conducted by Ipsos and others. In one survey, 69 per cent of respondents in the United States said they are willing to spend 2.5 cents extra per bottle for the Bakbuk solution.
