A new rental platform redefining circular shopping

A solution makes it easy for brands to rent and resell clothes to their customers

Spotted: The Australian Fashion Council (AFC) is working to transition the AU$27.2 billion Australian fashion and textile industry to full circularity by 2030 and net zero by 2050. An important aspect of the solution is re-commerce.

Rntr. is helping both brands and consumers move towards a more sustainable model of clothing production and consumption. The company provides bespoke rental and resale solutions, along with logistics management, to brands wanting to strengthen the circularity of their product lifecycles.

To start renting clothing, companies choose to offer single items, capsule collections, or subscription services. Rntr. works closely with each organisation to create a custom solution that meets business needs. Each rented item could earn up to 150 per cent of its original revenue within three months, helping brands earn more, and increase efficiencies and brand loyalty, while also reducing waste and emissions. For resale, Rntr. helps integrate ex-rental stock, returns, samples, and other inventory. Companies can also choose to offer a take-back scheme or a peer-to-peer marketplace.

Rntr. manages the logistics for all types of rentals and resale and uses the most sustainable options whenever possible. This includes using renewable plant-based packaging and green dry-cleaning processes as well as locating dry-cleaning operations within warehouses to reduce transport emissions. Deliveries are carbon neutral, and Rntr. partners with multiple organisations to recycle garments and reuse the fibres and hardware once items are no longer wearable.

The data generated from these systems form the basis of detailed analytics that Rntr. provides brands as part of the company’s ongoing consultation support. And Rntr. can also take on the management of returns, dispute resolution, and more to make re-commerce as easy as possible for brands to adopt.
