However, despite the sustainability—not to mention savings—of adopting a more circular model for fashion, high-end resale has not caught on in a big way – until now. MyGemma is a luxury resale site focusing exclusively on pre-owned designer items.

Established by luxury reseller WP Diamonds, myGemma acts as the company’s online marketplace. Users can shop on the site, as well as place pieces for resale. MyGemma offers expert in-house authentication of pieces – which is vital when considering paying £40,000 for a pre-owned Birkin Bag. Their team includes experts in diamonds, luxury watches, handbags, and collectible trainers.

MyGemma also offers a ‘White Glove Service’ – a dedicated team of VIP managers to handle luxury purchases and sales, with free in-home appointments and pickups throughout the US. For buyers, the main benefit is price. Many goods on the site are around 80 per cent off their original retail prices.

According to the company, buying pre-owned is about helping customers to realise that pre-owned luxury is just as luxurious as new – and more sustainable.
