An assortment of high profile brands joined Ibotta’s eco campaign and pledged to reduce their reliance on printed coupons by Earth Day 2021
Tied to Earth Day 2020, mobile shopping app Ibotta’s eco campaign encouraged retailers to save paper by reducing their use of printed coupons. In partnership with Trees for the Future, Ibotta is in the process of planting one million trees to help offset paper waste. An assortment of high profile brands, including those in the food, health, beauty and fitness industries, joined the campaign and pledged to reduce their reliance on printed coupons by Earth Day 2021.
With the majority of paper coupons unused, the waste is equivalent to the loss of one million trees every month. Ibotta provides users with cashback for a variety of purchases and includes a range of special offers as part of the campaign launch. The company’s website now includes a live tracker showing the numbers of newly planted trees.
Trees as tools for change are being used in a diversity of locations worldwide. Innovations recently spotted by Springwise that are using trees to improve urban environments include a store with 100 trees integrated into the structure of the building and an urban rewilding project that uses small plot, ultra-dense forests to improve local biodiversity.
