Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, the Sprav is a smart device that can be retrofitted onto any shower, alerting users when it's time to get out.
This is part of a new series of articles that looks at entrepreneurs hoping to get their ideas off the ground through crowdfunding. At the time of writing, each of these innovations is currently seeking funding.
Much like energy, households can cut their utility bills by reducing the amount of water they use, but it’s often difficult to keep track of usage. Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, the Sprāv is a smart device that can be retrofitted onto any shower, alerting users when it’s time to get out.
The device itself is a small clip that can be simply attached to existing shower heads. A companion smartphone app can then be used to monitor how much water is being consumed by the shower each day, how much it costs, and how that compares to the average. The Sprāv also features a color-changing LED that acts as a warning for users to get out of the shower if they’ve been in too long. It starts off green and slowly becomes yellow and then red when they should get out. The timing can be adjusted according to the user’s preferences. The team have also developed the Sprāv Element Meter, which can be used without a smartphone for those who don’t own one. The video below offers more information about the device:
The Sprāv is a simple device that, much like the Geopure — the shower that reuses its own water — could help homeowners reduce their outgoings while also curbing the waste of water. Are there other ways that water usage could be reduced in the bathroom?
