Dott is betting on safer scooters, more efficient batteries and cooperation with cities to establish a sustainable following
Spotted: Netherlands-based Dott is investing in safety and local collaboration to establish a sustainable base for its European e-scooter business. Dott scooters have wider wheels with road grip and a double-brake system, providing an “optimised centre of gravity” and safer ride according to Dott.
The scooters are accessible through an app, like many other e-scooter platforms. The difference, however, is in the design of the scooter and the company’s close cooperation with local officials. Dott opens warehouses in each city where it operates, hires full-time employees and offers free insurance in select locations.
The startup’s platform has already won over investors. It previously raised €20.5 million and is set to receive another €30 million in Series A round funding. The funds will bolster Dott’s expansion across Europe. The platform is already present in Brussels, Paris, Lyon and Milan.
