The meals are made using human-grade meat, vegetables, and insect-based protein
Spotted: Dogs are man’s (and woman’s) best friend, and owners are often keen to feed their pets the best quality food they can – whether that’s wet, dry, animal-based, or plant-based. Now, there’s a new offering, which delivers fresh, complete, and sustainable dog meals to your door.
Tuggs offers a doggy delivery service that designs a meal plan specially for each pet’s dietary needs. Users answer a few questions about their dog’s dietary needs, choose how often they need meals, and how much food the dog requires each day. The meals are then freshly prepared from natural ingredients and delivered.
The company uses fresh, human-grade meat and vegetables paired with protein derived from black soldier fly larvae, which reduces the carbon footprint of the meals while delivering high levels of protein. The meals are gently cooked to preserve their nutritional value, and are free from legumes, cheap fillers, or artificial preservatives.
All ingredients are sourced locally to the manufacturing site, with beef and chicken coming from less than one mile away. This keeps food miles low and ensures freshness. The company only sells directly to customers through a subscription model and has sold more than 350,000 meals since its launch in 2022.
Tuggs recently secured a £1.1 million investment round and is working on the next stage of scaling, including working on a range of recipes for sustainable dog treats that combine meats with insects.
