The new smart cities will be equipped with a variety of IoT-enabled products and services, including intelligent streetlights and smart home devices
Spotted: Affordable housing and prop-tech company, Planet Smart City, is planning a smart city project in Brazil with the support of sustainable energy specialist, Enel X.
Founded in 2015, Planet Smart City aims to design and build neighbourhoods in countries with high housing deficits. It works in partnership with real estate developers around the world, to improve the quality of life of inhabitants. The Planet Smart City model in Brazil includes four projects: Smart City Laguna, Smart City Natal, Smart City Aquiraz and Viva!Smart. The duo has ambitious plans to launch 44,500 housing units by 2025.
Enel X, part of the Enel Group, will provide Internet-of-Things- (IoT-) enabled products and services, including intelligent streetlights and smart home devices. It said that the partnership with Enel X is an important strategic agreement. By providing access to these products at scale, the partnership with Enel X will enable Planet to maintain the efficient development of smart communities, at a low cost to residents.
In addition, Enel X’s strategic platform YouUrban will provide Planet with insight into data-driven analytics showcasing interactions between its solutions and residents. This will enable them to better tailor solutions and strengthen community engagement. One of the proposals includes customised options for a residential development, which will offer all the smart home technologies available, with solar energy generation and an electric vehicle charger in your garage.
