Located on the outskirts of Paris, the Garden City reimagines what ideal urban living might be, with a focus on growing space
Spotted: The Garden City of the Crescent Moon is a concept city designed by French architecture studio Rescubika. Planned around the Lac des Minimes located on the outskirts of Paris, the Garden City would contain everything residents need, from food and leisure to office space. Created as a reimagining of what ideal urban living might be, the Garden City includes substantial growing space.
Food grown in the city would contribute to improved air quality and soil health as well as provide residents with a range of options for buying locally. Culture, sports buildings, and spaces for the pursuit of leisure activities are all included in the plans.
As governments around the world reassess the ways in which they can support healthy living for their citizens, urban planners are seeking creative new ways to incorporate more greenery in day-to-day life and reduce stress levels, particularly with regards to public transport, in inhabitants.
Other recent conceptual designs for city improvements that Springwise has spotted include an AI-powered linear urban development in Saudi Arabia and a repurposing of parking garages in Melbourne, Australia, into community spaces that include gardens, shops and parks.
