WeGo brings car sharing to company cars

The Netherlands' WeGo has launched a scheme that enables enterprises to use car sharing when offering employees company cars.

Car sharing as a concept has been around for a while, and we recently wrote about FlightCar‘s foray into enabling its customers to make more sustainable income from their unused vehicles. Now the Netherlands’ WeGo has launched its Business option, which allows enterprises to use car sharing when offering employees company cars.

Businesses signing up for the service can take advantage of WeGo’s existing fleet of company cars, simply registering the times they will need each vehicle through an easy-to-use allocation system. Employees can download the WeGo app, which is used to unlock a car based on permission set by managers. Companies benefit by not having to make upfront investment in their own fleet or parking facilities, as well as knowing that the cars are shared between other users – having a positive impact on the environment. Businesses that do already have a fleet of cars can also monetize them by leasing them out to other companies. Prices depend on the size of the business and how often they will need to register use of the cars.
