A free AI-based COVID-19 risk assessment tool

C19check.com, developed by doctors and an AI software developer, is for educational purposes and is not to be used as a replacement for a healthcare provider diagnosis

Spotted: A joint effort between doctors from Emory Healthcare Innovation Hub, and Atlanta based, AI-powered ER software developer, Vital, has produced a free online tool for people anywhere to assess the likelihood of being infected by the coronavirus.

C19check.com, which makes it easy for the general public to self-triage, was developed with the aim to ameliorate the stream of patients at hospitals and healthcare facilities. The site is for educational purposes and is not to be used as a replacement for a healthcare provider diagnosis. 

The evaluation is based on the user’s answers to questions about signs and symptoms, age and medical history. After this, the person is directed to guidance based on CDC guidelines and categorised into either high-risk (needs immediate medical attention), intermediate-risk (could contact their doctor for guidance), or low-risk (can most likely administer self-care or recover at home).

The site, which is free to use and makes the company no profit, will be available for the entirety of the COVID-19 public health emergency. It is can be accessed on any computer and collects no personal information. Users can also opt to share a zip code to contribute to research tracking the geographic spread of the virus.
