Klarna has implemented heart-rate monitoring checks for customers to prove that they are human rather than a bot
Spotted: Payment platform Klarna has partnered with trainer experts Highsnobiety to launch a raffle that will use heart-rate technology to give enthusiasts the chance to win limited-edition shoes. By monitoring heart rates, Klarna will be able to ensure that auto-purchasing bots do not enter the competition. The Hearbeats4Sneakers raffle will see five of the decade’s most sought after styles raffled off.
To enter the raffle, participants have to visit the Klarna website and press their finger on the camera of their smartphone or laptop, which will measure their heart rate. Once a heart rate is detected, you are entered into the raffle. The Heartbeats4Sneakers campaign was promoted through Klarna’s social channels and to reach a wider community, they partnered with trainer culture influencers and retailers to promote it on their platforms. The campaign video has now garnered over 2.8 million views.
The collection was curated by Highsnobiety’s sportswear editor Fabian Gorsler and features: 2015 Adidas Original Yeezy Boost 750 OG, 2016 Acronym x Nike Presto Mid, 2017 Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Jordan 1 Chicago, 2017 Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 97/1 and the 2018 Daniel Arsham x Adidas Futurecraft 45 shoes.
People were able to enter the Heartbeats4Sneakers raffle between July 2 and July 6, and according to Klarna, more than 300,000 fanatics entered the competition within a few days.
