Innovation That Matters

Disposable French press brews coffee in its own bag

Food & Drink

Danish Coffeebrewer Nordic has created a disposable French press called the Coffeebrewer that works right inside its own bag.

It wasn’t long ago that we featured French Handpresso’s espresso machine for the car, but recently we came across another portability-minded innovation for lovers of fine coffee. The concept this time, however, comes from Danish Coffeebrewer Nordic, which has created a disposable French press called the Coffeebrewer that works right inside its own bag. Inside each Coffeebrewer pouch is a filter with 26g of freshly ground specialty coffee. To brew three cups of coffee, all the user need do is open the pouch, add half a liter of hot water and then let it brew for between five and eight minutes. “The unique brewing system is designed to preserve the coffee’s natural oils,” Coffeebrewer Nordic explains. “This enhances the delicate flavors and finer aromas of the coffee, which otherwise can only be achieved by using a French press.” The Coffeebrewer’s filter separates brewed coffee from grounds, so when the first one and a half cups have been served, the remaining coffee will be below the filter and the brewing process will stop, thus avoiding any bitter taste from over-brewing, the company says. Pricing is reportedly about USD 3.50 per bag. The video below demonstrates the Coffeebrewer in action: Targeting hotels, outdoor stores and other retail outlets, Coffeebrewer Nordic welcomes inquiries from potential distributors and business partners around the globe.
