This platform could help to close the growing skilled labour gap in Europe
Spotted: It’s estimated that Europe’s construction industry will need to add up to 1.5 million extra workers from now until 2030, including 1.2 million to replace the retiring generation. To help combat this skilled labour shortage, and keep projects like green retrofits running smoothly, Crafthunt is calling on the help of AI.
Improving training schemes is an important part of plugging the skills gap, but so is recruitment and finding the right individual for a role. Crafthunt hopes that this task will be made much easier with its AI-powered app, which automatically matches candidates with relevant vacancies.
Organisations upload their company profile to the app, including information on location, available positions, machinery used, vehicle fleets, and yearly construction volume. Then, Crafthunt’s algorithms identify domestic and international workers who could be a good fit – based on their experience, expertise, and distance from the job – and the app advertises the role to these profiles.
Employers and prospective employees can then chat via the app. To improve access for foreign workers who have valuable skills to offer but often face language barriers in the recruitment process, the chat can automatically be translated into multiple languages, including Polish and Spanish. According to the company, workers will receive validated job offers at least once a week.
Crafthunt already boasts a network of more than 25,000 construction workers and over 700 companies. In June this year, the startup closed a seed funding round that raised €3 million, with participation from UVC Partners, Redstone, along with angel investors.
