Flaming Lips release music during yoga classes
Publishing & Media
Oklahoma based band, Flaming Lips, debut new music at one of the city’s yoga studios.
The music industry is notoriously competitive with bands often turning to innovative ways of releasing new work that will enhance the experience of their listeners. Last year Springwise wrote about this Swedish band whose new album was only made available to those in the woods. More recently, in May of this year, we wrote about this artist who created an online game, making bonus tracks accessible only to those with top scores. Now, the Flaming Lips are releasing new work to those taking classes at Oklahoma’s yoga studio, The Yoga Box.
The band’s lead singer, Wayne Coyne, announced over Instagram that they would be curating the music for a series of classes throughout October. Friday yoga classes during the month featured playlists including a mixture of old classics, new tracks and rare music from the US-based band.
Classes cost upwards of USD 15. Will we see more bands follow suit in the way they release their new music?
