uFlavor is offering consumers the chance to concoct their own soft drinks, with the potential to earn money for their creations.
We recently came across Alchemist Dreams, a UK-based company that enables customers to create their own liqueurs from a list of flavors. Now Indianapolis-based start-up uFlavor is offering consumers the chance to concoct their own soft drinks, with the potential to earn money for their creations. According to a Fast Company report, uFlavor’s founders believe they have launched the world’s first user-generated refreshment company. Soon customers will be able to choose from a list of 100 flavors, which they will be able to combine in varying amounts as they create their own unique drink. Beverage creators can also upload an image for a personalized bottle label, and, once completed, drinks will soon be available to purchase from uFlavor vending machines, which will mix the drinks on the spot. For now, all drinks created are available to buy online via the uFlavor marketplace, with the most popular drinks creating revenue for the designer. Currently in beta, uFlavor beverages include flavored water, energy drinks, sodas and teas. One bottle costs USD 2.99, and a six pack USD 14.99, with bulk options available for parties, offices or large events. uFlavor are looking to deliver their first round of orders from the marketplace in February 2012. While customization gives consumers the power to create the product they want, the uFlavor model extends the benefits, with a social twist, to include a potential revenue stream. Could such a model succeed in your industry? Spotted by: Cecilia Biemann
