3D-VR software immerses users in future products

A new tool can help companies and customers to better visualise their options before production begins

Spotted: Companies that need a way to persuade customers to purchase their products now have a new tool – the Aniconfigurator by Animech. This is a 3D-software package designed to immerse users in products that may not even be built yet.

The Aniconfigurator software allows companies and customers to explore the options involved in product design before production begins. For example, Volkswagon used the service to help persuade prospective buyers to purchase its new Arteon saloon before the car had even rolled off the assembly line.

HTC Vive headsets were used to simulate the sight, sounds, and handling of a life-sized Arteon from every angle. Animech then engaged customers in configuring their dream version of the car, allowing them to experience a VR-version with personalised colours, upholstery, wheel rims and more.

The tool has already been used to help develop and sell a large number of products, including greenhouses, customised storage and truck components. The company’s built-in template can also be customised to fit specific products and customer journeys.

The Aniconfigurator tool is just the latest in the ongoing development of better 3D-visualisation. At Springwise, we have covered many innovations in this space, including the use of 360-degree hologram ads used to sell trainers and 3D-VR which can visually map cancer cells.
