CableTread and e.ventures have developed a standing desk with a built-in cable organiser, which mimics the electric roadways of circuit boards
Spotted: The CableTread is a standing desk with a built-in cable organiser that mechanically supports electronic components through conductive pathways. Over the course of a year, Allen and Gielselmann refined the desk from concept to product and won the 2020 Red Dot design award.
CableTread embeds cables inside the desktop itself with dedicated channels that ensure the workspace is tidy. As these wires have a natural elasticity, they are able to cling to the twists of the channels and remain securely in place. Other components on the underside of the desk include an embedded Mac Mini, two defined mounts for USB accessories, a power strip with a six-foot cord extension, cable slack management, and a flush mount height control assist button.
In addition, CableTread also has integrated features for the top of its desks, including a monitor mount and an inset magic keyboard and trackpad. The desk is bordered by an E1 and Carb2 certified Valchromat that provides extra wood fibre panelling for high physical performance.
The CableTread will be available to pre-order exclusively in the San Francisco Bay Area from early 2021.
