A co-pilot system makes traditional teaching materials more interactive
Spotted: The digital transformation is happening so quickly that professionals in almost all knowledge-based industries are having to learn while working, regularly upskilling themselves and their teams. For educators, it’s particularly important to understand and make best use of these new technologies, as they’re teaching young people who will become the professionals of an increasingly digitised future, often working in jobs that are not yet in existence. Yet teachers across the EU feel unprepared, with less than 40 per cent ready to use digital technologies in their teaching.
Artificial intelligence (AI) experts at French company Nolej are helping teachers make that transition by turning traditional educational materials into interactive modules relevant to a variety of ages and learning styles. Teachers and course designers upload or link to content such as videos, textbooks, library books, course outlines, and more. Nolej’s AI then transforms the information into an assortment of types of coursework.
The new material includes teaching elements such as interactive videos, flashcards, and glossaries along with testing tools such as question sets, find-the-word exercises, and crosswords. Nolej’s system integrates with almost all teaching APIs, and the coursework can be exported in a range of formats, making it convenient for educators to implement. In tests, the Nolej interface saved teachers up to 10 hours of coursework design time per project.
Springwise’s library includes a number of innovations showcasing the ways that AI can improve education, such as including sustainability in STEM classes and personalising digital lessons.
