Gaming database supports indie developers

Gametionary helps users find similar games to the ones they enjoy, and enables independent developers to gain exposure.

It can be daunting entering into the world of video games — we recently covered a platform to help parents better understand and search for the games their children are interested in. Now, targeting gamers directly, Gametionary is building a gaming recommendation database.

Users sign up to Gametionary and enter which games they already own and rate highly. Using a robust process of meta-tagging, gamers can search through genres using niche language such as ‘stealth’ or ‘RPG’, or by developer and platform. Gametionary then provides users with an overview, trailer and detailed info of each game, as well as links to online retailers. Independent game developers are encouraged to post their own games to the site, gaining equal exposure alongside the big budget titles. Currently in the testing phase, the team plan to introduce an app in the future.
