Wireless headphones know what song is playing

Muzik Convertible are smart, IoT headphones that can broadcast listening moments and share on Twitter through programmable gestures.

We first came across Muzik in 2013, and wrote about how their headphones enable users to instantly share the track they are listening to with Facebook friends. Now they are offering a wireless upgrade, the Muzik Convertible, and have introduced audio-recognition software, customizable gesture controls, and more.

Along with the Muzik app, users can program the Bluetooth-connected headphones to broadcast Twitter ‘moments’ at the touch of one of the earcups. First, the Muzik app recognizes the song being played, and will find a corresponding link on Spotify. Then, it will tweet the song alongside a Google Street View image and weather data, creating a listening moment that the users share with their friends. A number of functions can also be accessed through swiping gestures and hot keys, such as asking the headphones to speak the track info, or add songs to Spotify playlists. What’s more, users can customized these gestures in the companion app to suit their specific habits.

With a touted retail price of USD 300, Muzik Convertible will be launching this Spring following significant investment from Twitter. What other entertainment accessories can be integrated with Shazam-like functions?
