Medically tailored meal plans powered by AI

The service delivers fresh, healthy ingredients to the user's door
Nutrition can have a big impact on the development and management of chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension. With one in three adults worldwide suffering from multiple chronic conditions, the role of good diets in maintaining well-being is increasing, but changing diet patterns can be challenging for chronic illness patients. One health startup, RxDiet, hopes to change that.
Using AI and input from RxDiet’s live care team, the company’s app creates custom meal plans for individuals who need to change their diet, based on their cultural and lifestyle preferences. Through local partnerships, RxDiet then delivers the fresh ingredients directly to users so they can make their recommended recipes at home.
On the platform, the company has also created an active digital community where customers can share success stories and keep each other motivated. For instance, users track their progress and achievements on the app and they can share these wins with the rest of the community.
RxDiet’s CEO, Roman Kalista, told Springwise: “We recognised the urgent need for a transformative approach that extends beyond medication, focusing on diet and lifestyle modifications to address pressing health challenges.” And its transformative approach has yielded impressive results. According to Kalista, RxDiet’s offerings are 30 per cent more cost-effective for members compared to other food programmes. Plus, over a six-month period, 87 per cent of its members reported improvements in medication adherence, while 75 per cent visited the emergency room and hospital less.
In July, the startup completed a $3 million seed funding round led by Giant Ventures and backed by Form Life, among others. RxDiet maintains partnerships with some of the largest health insurers, including Aetna, to serve patients on their networks. Now, RxDiet aims to launch a lower-cost digital tool for insurers to offer their customers and is working on expanding its network of grocery, medical, and wellness partners.
