Spotted: We all know that we should be doing our bit to reduce waste and live more sustainably. But it can be difficult to know where to start, or how to make a difference. Enter Faircado, a new e-commerce solution that aims to make it easy to shop responsibly.

Faircado is an AI-powered shopping assistant that aggregates secondhand offers from the biggest marketplaces and retailers, including reBuy, Ebay, Refurbed, and Cleverbuy.

The Faircado platform is powered by a smart algorithm that pulls the offers together into one platform. Shoppers can then compare them on price, while also being shown a sustainability score that indicates which option is best for the planet. The startup also offers a free Google Chrome extension that automatically searches for the best second-hand or refurbished alternatives when users shop normally on select sites.

The ultimate goal of the platform is to provide customers with peace of mind that they have found the best deal – both for themselves and the planet.

Faircado has also developed the concept of a ‘Circular First Pledge’ where startups and SMEs commit to moving from buying new electronics to buying them secondhand with Faircado. In exchange, Faircado ensures that those who pledge always get the best deals from trusted partners – ‘with guarantees’. Moreover, the startup will provide the company with a report outlining how much CO2 has been saved as a result of this ‘small but impactful action’.

Secondhand is becoming mainstream, and Springwise has recently spotted several innovations that aim to smooth this process. These include a company bringing ‘Resale-as-a-Service’ to fashion brands, a retail platform that matches secondhand shops with customers, and a platform that sells refurbished electronic devices.
