Ankorstore allows retailers to sell products that cannot usually be found on major e-commerce sites

Spotted: French startup Anchor Store is the developer of “Ankorstore”, a B2B marketplace that connects specialist brands with independent and local shop owners.

Buying from several brands through Ankorstore not only simplifies admin tasks, but allows retailers to sell products that cannot usually be found on major e-commerce sites, and for brands to profit from payment upon delivery, avoiding any cash flow issues.

The company works with 2,000 brands and 15,000 shops, and the startup isn’t just connecting buyers and sellers — it has a clear set of rules. For instance, Ankorstore withdraws the money 60 days after placing an order, brands get paid upon delivery and the minimum first order is €300, so owners can try new products without having to order hundreds of items at first.

Ankorstore is currently running in eight countries: France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. France is the biggest market, followed by Germany.

The startup has raised €25 million in a Series A round, which it will use to expand across Europe, starting with the UK during early 2021. It will also add more brands and retailers to its platform.

Index Ventures has led the round, with existing investors GFC, Alven, and Aglaé also participating.
