Listeners encouraged to dance to album through movement-dependent iPhone app
Publishing & Media
The new album from Scottish musician Calvin Harris is now available as a free iPhone app that will play only while the listener is moving.
The virtual ink had barely dried on our story about UK musician Gwilym Gold’s perpetually mutating Tender Metal album when we got word of yet another app-enabled musical innovation. The artist this time is Scottish musician Calvin Harris, whose new album “18 Months” is now available as a free iPhone app that will play only while the listener is moving.
Harris’s new album is also available for sale by more traditional means through the iTunes store, of course. For those who would rather not pay, however, the new app from Cardiff agency We Make Awesome Sh can be downloaded for free. The only catch is that the listener must keep dancing – or at least keep his or her phone moving – to hear it. Another reported feature of the app is that it enables users to unlock extra song remixes by taking a photo of the album’s cover.
The musical possibilities offered by today’s technologies seem to be ever expanding. Keep the innovations coming!
