Could this company help make parcel deliveries eco-friendly and efficient?
Spotted: In 2021, 5.4 billion parcels were delivered in the UK – averaging around 80 parcels per person. In this bustling industry, there’s a significant push towards decarbonisation. UK-based Hived is at the forefront of this effort, offering businesses a greener alternative with its fleet of electric vehicles and e-cargo bikes for last- and middle-mile deliveries.
Using its electric fleet, Hived ensures every stage of a parcel’s journey, from retailer collection to customer delivery, is more eco-friendly. The company provides UK-wide collection and delivery across Greater London for international retailers like ASOS and Zara. According to Hived, using an all-electric delivery service means around 140 grams of CO2-equivalent emissions are saved on every parcel compared with diesel-fuelled deliveries, setting new standards for sustainability in logistics.
Beyond its commitment to the environment, Hived also offers a fast, easy, and reliable service for both merchants and consumers. Senders can track every stage of their parcel’s journey on the Hived dashboard, and customers receive regular status updates, with the company boasting that 99.9 per cent of its deliveries are made on time. As Hived is integrated with platforms like Shopify and Metapack, it’s easy and seamless for customers and companies to make a more sustainable choice when it comes to their deliveries.
In the next five years, the company hopes to become the leading sustainable delivery service in the UK and a major player in European markets. To help scale its solution, Hived has raised £10 million in a Series A funding round led by Planet A Ventures. The company also takes its commitment to protecting the environment a step further and has partnered with startups like Enso and The Tyre Collective to cut its tyre pollution.
