The ride-sharing service determines the best route based on the collective transportation needs of passengers
Spotted: BusBot, a ride-sharing service similar to Uber or Lyft, has launched a 22-week free trial in Marion Grove Retirement Village, New Wales, Australia. The service includes a BusBot app, which directs users to a nearby virtual bus stop for pick-up and drop-off. BusBot then calculates the most-direct route based on the collective needs of passengers. This makes the service dynamic and avoids unnecessary stops.
The initiative took place in collaboration with driverless vehicle designer Easymile, ride-share startup Via, bus operator Busways and Transport for New South Wales. If the trial is successful, BusBot will extend its services to Coffs Harbour’s central business district.
