Electric cargo bikes for last-mile deliveries

Vok’s e-cargo bike has hit the streets as an affordable and city-friendly delivery option

Spotted: Delivery drivers typically have two options: car or bicycle. But traffic can slow them down, and bad weather can make things even more difficult. With its e-cargo bike, Estonian company Vok Bikes has decided to add another option to the market in a bid to make delivery driving efficient, safe, and green.

Meet Vok’s cargo bikes: they can navigate steep urban terrains, carry heavy cargo, and have a range of 100 kilometres with a top speed of 25 kilometres per hour. The solution is a game-changer for people of all ages and physical abilities, and the bikes are even accessible to those without a driver’s license.

Vok’s e-bike can fit in a bike lane, providing the benefits of a bicycle. But, with traction control and an electric anti-lock braking system, as well as lights and wipers for high visibility in bad weather, the cargo bike eliminates the downsides of using traditional bicycles by offering car-like safety.

The company recently secured €800,000 in a pre-seed round from local funds and regional business angels. Vok plans to produce 100 vehicles and expand to a couple of major European cities in the next year.

Sprinwise has previously spotted other green delivery ideas in the archives, from autonomous delivery robots to battery-powered bicycle carts that transport goods.
