Sexual health badges help potential partners share their STD status

Luhu is a new service that gives members a digital badge that indicates if they have a clean bill of sexual health — or if they haven't had a check-up for a while.

Sexual health is a sensitive issue, and many people are embarrassed by it. However, not revealing your status to a bedroom partner can put them at risk of contracting. Luhu is a new service that gives members a digital badge that indicates if they have a clean bill of sexual health — or if they haven’t had a check-up for a while.

Those signing up to the service — which costs USD 79 to register in most states, and USD 10 a month thereafter — are able to arrange a free HIV 1 and 2, syphillis, Hepatitis C test with a partnered healthcare company in their area. After being tested, the results are uploaded securely online and the member is awarded a badge indicating their sexual health status, as well as the fact that they’ve recently been tested. They can then share those badges with other members of Luhu, and see if potential partners have the all clear before they decide to get involved. Luhu will also remind users when it’s time for another checkup. The video below explains more about the service:

Given that one in four young adults carry an STD, a service such as this helps sex remain a healthy, fun and risk-free activity for those who don’t mind sharing their personal information online.
