Sleeping bag for dogs enables them to camp with their owners

Work & Lifestyle

Barker Bag is a miniature sleeping bag designed to keep dogs warm while spending a night under the stars.

Many dog lovers will be hard pushed to leave their pooch behind if they have to leave the house, something that in the past has even been picked up by the IKEA branch in Germany that introduced dog parking bays to keep their pets comfortable while they shop. Now aimed at hikers who want their dog to accompany them on their treks, Barker Bag is a miniature sleeping bag designed to keep dogs warm while spending a night under the stars.

Created by industrial soft goods designer and outdoors enthusiast Andy Storms, the idea arose out of trips to remote locations with his dog, Barker. While Barker enjoyed walks up the hillside, the dog basket had to be left at home, making camping overnight difficult. In order to give his pet the same level of comfort and warmth that humans enjoy, Storms created a small version of the sleeping bag, adapted to dogs. Using the same insulated material as typical bags, the Barker Bag features a collar in place of the usual hood in order to keep dogs from running about or trying to get out of the tent. It also features zips on both sides that enable owners to attach the Barker Bag to their own sleeping bag. Watch the video below for more information about the project:

The Barker Bag was recently successfully funded on Kickstarter, where a small size Barker Bag could be pre-ordered for USD 69. Are there other products that could be adapted to pets to enable animals to join their owners in other activities?
