At The SPC mall in Singapore, customers will be able to browse items instore, purchase them online and have them delivered to their home.
We have seen plenty of bricks-and-mortar retailers — such as Kate Space and Rebecca Minkoff — incorporating online features into their offline stores. Now, a new mall development in Singapore will take this to a whole new level, by dedicating much of its 25,000 square meters to ecommerce stores. At The SPC mall, customers can browse items instore, purchase them online and have them delivered to their home.
The mall is being developed by Singpost — Singapore’s postal service provider — and is expected to be completed by mid-2017. It will be located at the Singapore Post Centre and will contain a multi-screen cinema and five levels of retail space. The set up will enable stores to save on storage space, since items will be able to be stored elsewhere in a warehouse, and will help consumers avoid transporting heavy or bulky items.
Could this new retail model, prevalent in furniture outlets, work in other industries too?
