Mobile app uses social media to help travelers enjoy the airport

AirportChatter is a mobile app that brings business profiles, reviews and networking opportunities to the airport itself.

For those who travel by plane regularly for work, the airport can seem like a home-from-home. It makes sense then to encourage social connections in these areas and we’ve already seen airlines allowing passengers to choose seats based on social media profiles. Now there’s AirportChatter, a mobile app that brings business profiles, reviews and networking opportunities to the airport itself. More than 4 billion passengers pass through airports annually, notes California-based AirportChatter, and yet “the majority of us often have frustration and stress while traveling,” it explains. “So we made it our mission to make you happy and take the frustration out of air travel while connecting you to airports, airlines, retailers and other travelers.” Now available for iOS, the free app currently supports 30 of the busiest airports in the US, offering detailed venue profiles, real-time reviews from the traveling community, and ways to connect with other travelers in the airport. Eventually, AirportChatter aims to expand its functionality to include flight tracking, transportation booking, and more, according to a TechCrunch report. An Android app is also on the way.
