Spice subscription service helps cooks explore tastes of the world
Travel & Tourism
Spice Madam deliver monthly spice boxes and recipes, inspired by different food cultures from across the globe.
Home cooking can be a real joy, but the process of selecting a new recipe and sourcing unfamiliar ingredients can deter less confident cooks — resulting in repetitious meals or expensive takeaway habits.
We have seen a number of food delivery services emerge — such as Forage and Gulala, which curate and pre-prepare ingredient boxes and deliver them to the customer’s home, ready to be transformed into the evening meal. Now, Spice Madam are offering to send customers curated spice boxes with corresponding recipes and fact sheets, to enable more adventurous cooking without the hassle of going to specialist food stores.
Customers can sign up to the subscription service for USD 20 per month, and there are discounts for six month and yearly subscriptions. They then receive one Spice Madam box every month, delivered to any address in the US. The box contains three or four spice samples and a collection of recipes inspired by a different culinary culture each month. There are recipes for beginners and more experienced cooks and enough of each spice to make three or four portions of each recipe.
Are there other subscription services which could encourage consumers to explore unfamiliar cultures?
