Springwise Announces Media Partnership with Plastic Odyssey
Press Release: Springwise is partnering with Plastic Odyssey, a scientific exploration vessel that will span three continents and 30 cities to uncover solutions to fight against plastic pollution.
Springwise, the global source for innovation intelligence that drives positive and sustainable change, is partnering with Plastic Odyssey, the expedition around the world to protect the ocean, to bolster their shared mission of inspiring sustainable innovation across the globe and to develop transitional solutions to the ocean plastic waste crisis. The Plastic Odyssey is a 40-metre scientific exploration vessel that will span three continents and 30 cities to uncover solutions to fight against plastic pollution, set to embark in early 2021.
As a media partner, Springwise will help promote Plastic Odyssey’s mission by creating bespoke editorial content that will help illustrate the many challenges and solutions related to the ocean plastic problem. Springwise has a vast and engaged global innovation community of over 75,000 newsletter subscribers and a following of over 325,000 on its social media platforms.
Springwise is part of an ecosystem of businesses on a mission to create the future in a disrupted world: Re_Set, the boutique consultancy for digital transformation, innovation and sustainability; Capital D, the private equity fund investing in disruptive mid-market companies across Europe. The partnership further solidifies their collective commitment to not only promoting sustainable business practices but helping companies address the climate crisis. Re_Set and Springwise have pending B Corp status and are members of 1% For The Planet.
James Bidwell, Chair of Springwise and Co-Founder of Re_Set, commented:
“Springwise has been championing the world’s foremost innovators since 2002, more recently with a focus on sustainability and positive change. The Plastic Odyssey project is much needed and is a perfect fit for us – a pioneering adventure which will bring to life solutions to one of the planet’s most pressing problems. The PO team are dynamic and demonstrate great leadership. As such it is a privilege to join some of the worlds most exciting brands and take our place as a media partner to this exceptional voyage of discovery. The Springwise team will be working hard to tell the PO story as well as to engage with partners as we collectively change behaviours and make the world a better place.”
Alexandre Dechelotte, COO and Co-Founder of Plastic Odyssey, commented:
“We are very delighted to forge this partnership with Springwise and to give such an international dimension to the Plastic Odyssey project! It is important for us to have a valued media partner at our side to relay the project’s ambition worldwide and to take our message beyond borders. Our message is built around a dream — the dream of creating a new world that is free of single-use plastics. To reach this dream, we have a plan: to create a global network of local initiatives for recycling and reducing plastic waste. The expedition will start next January from Marseille, France, followed by the first stopovers in the Mediterranean Sea. Rendez-vous for the departure with the Springwise team onboard our vessel!”
