Having only launched less than five months ago, Urban Compass is already helping househunters in New York to become better informed about each area before signing on the dotted line. The site offers beautifully-designed and comprehensive cheat sheets for each neighborhood, as well as personal tours from its resident experts. Its potential has now been recognized by investors, who recently offered USD 20 million in Series A funding to the young startup.

We recently caught up with OMSignal co-founder Stephane Marceau in our regular Wise Words feature, and the company has since been in contact to announce that it is growing its team. The startup – which hopes to soon bring its unique sensor-embedded clothing to the market – has appointed Code Cubitt, Managing Director for Mistral Venture Partners, formerly with Motorola Ventures and former COO of Zephyr Technology, as its new Director.

Blippar
In order to showcase the technology behind it’s main app, UK startup Blippar has been hard at work creating new and fun examples of what augmented reality can offer to consumers. Most recently, the team developed an app to keep kids happy while traveling which could only be unlocked using a British passport. Scanning their official documents enabled them to view 3D models of planes, holiday-inspired games, a suitcase checklist and even foreign language phrases.
