Subscription service for personal home “caretaker”

Property & Construction

Uw Huismeester offer a solution which aims to bring down the cost of professional home maintenance services by operating as a membership scheme.

The price of repairing and maintaining homes can be high, whether it’s buying tools or call-out fees and charges for specialists. A couple of months ago we discovered diyFractional, a platform that facilitates shared ownership of DIY tools, and now Uw Huismeester in the Netherlands offer a solution which aims to bring down the cost of professional maintenance services. Translated as “your caretaker” or “your concierge”, Uw Huismeester costs EUR 180 a year inclusive of tax and claims to be a personal, reliable and trustworthy service that will both help prevent and respond to house maintenance issues, and ultimately save subscribers money. Members are given their own “huismeester” maintenance specialist, who knows them and will be familiar with their house. When maintenance issues arise, members can contact their huismeester for free through the website with short questions which will be answered the same or next day. Where possible they aim to offer simple and appropriate solutions to solve the problem quickly and cheaply. For emergencies, a special number is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, also free of charge. If maintenance work is required Uw Huismeester will recommend qualified specialists or craftsmen, which they’re able to supply at reduced prices. The yearly cost also includes an ‘Annual Quick Scan’, which is a visual check and report on the condition of the house to prepare members for potential problems rather than be surprised by them, and an annual boiler check. Searching for dependable and affordable tradespeople can be time consuming with no guarantee of success, but will individuals be prepared to pay an annual premium to remove that hassle throughout the year? One to watch! Spotted by: Pim Vijftigschild
