An intervention solution that manages and reinvents food waste

Pairish has two product lines that offer pickling and smoothie making mixes, giving people the option to reinvent their leftover produce
Spotted: Food waste is a major global problem, with about one-third of it wasted, lost or uneaten. As this issue has been receiving increasing attention, many solutions are being developed to help curb the problem. The Pairish app is a food waste intervention solution which redirects food from the waste stream through proper management, along the food ageing process. It also provides the opportunity to reinvent leftover fruits and vegetables into a new resource, with its pickling and smoothie making mixes. Pairish believes that sustainability should be attainable and enjoyable, and hopes to change consumer attitudes by creating a manageable solution and empowering users to do good.
Users of the app simply have to scan their supermarket receipts, which will direct them to Pairish ingredients that are getting old. Taking into account other available ingredients and dietary restrictions, the app will provide options for users to pickle or blend, freeze to extend food lifespans, or cook with recipe suggestions. The Smoothish and Picklish product lines work in unison with the Pairish app, providing users with extra nutrients and all their favourite flavours in compostable packaging. To pickle leftover vegetables, simply throw them into a jar, add some vinegar and a Picklish packet. The Smoothish line works to the same effect: the smoothie boost power simply has to be poured into a blender with aging fruits.
Pairish has partnered with McCormick, an American food company that has established relationships with big brands, from which Pairish hopes to benefit. At the same time, the partnership will offer McCormick the opportunity to address an underutilised market.
