Project Wren’s subscription-based service makes it easy for people to invest in projects that offset carbon footprints
Spotted: US-based startup Project Wren has a subscription-based service allowing people to invest in projects that offset carbon footprints. It was created by college students who wanted to make it easier for investors wanting to address climate change.
The service is different from other carbon-offset initiatives because it works with projects that depend on funding, the startup said. The web platform calculates your footprint based where you live and other factors like your diet and whether you drive.
Based on your number, the website recommends how much you should donate to a partner project to offset your consumption. The projects are selected based on several factors, including transparency and impact. Wren only works with projects that require funding to be sustainable so that the donations have the most impact.
Project Wren earns money from a 20% commission above the price of the project.
