The bigger the web gets, the more important curation becomes. Music and fashion are two areas in which the clutter can be particularly overwhelming, and that’s just where 1band1brand hopes to make a difference — by highlighting one emerging music band and one up-and-coming fashion brand each week along with special offers for subscribers.
Targeting influential young adults, 1band1brand is a free, subscription-based digital platform that introduces emerging, independent musicians and fashion labels for subscribers to “hear, wear and share,” as the site puts it. In any given week, subscribers can learn about a new, featured band by watching its videos on the site and then “naming their own price” and downloading the band’s featured music sampler. In exchange, they’re invited to share it with their connections on social networks including Facebook and Twitter. Similarly, subscribers can view fashion brands’ own videos and collections, share them with their peers, and receive coupons towards purchases. To be considered, bands must have recorded music available and a touring history, while brands must have men’s and women’s or unisex items available in the marketplace.
A creation of New Hampshire-based 138 Music & Entertainment, 1band1brand brings obvious benefits for both bands and brands and for early-adopter consumers. If you’re in music or fashion, this is an obvious one to test out. For all others, how about setting up a like-minded introduction service of your own, maybe on a localized or niche basis?
