App for fairer recruitment

WageSpot, a salary transparency app, gathers anonymized user data so businesses can develop competitive salaries and fair recruitment policies.

We’re seeing more and more examples of transparency platforms become available, especially around taboo subjects such as salaries. WageSpot is helping recruiters realize the potential of disruptive user-generated salary data.

WageSpot is a free app where users upload information about their salaries, experience and job satisfaction. This information is tagged onto a geomap, which arranges by user location. All the data become anonymized within a searchable database, so that businesses can search for the kind of talent they’re looking for and see what level of salary they should be offering to be competitive. Startups looking for a business location can use the mapping data to identify talent-rich areas where the local market is right for their business. WageSpot is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter to cover the costs of Google’s Mapping API licensing fees.

WageSpot believes that driving a fairer salary market using anonymous user-generated data will simultaneously benefit businesses looking to attract top talent and boost their fairness image. What other taboo subjects can make use of transparency platforms?
