Mathpix transforms handwritten equations into visual guides with step-by-step solutions to help users improve their math skills.
The world can sometimes feel like it is split into two categories of people: those who are good at math and those who aren’t. We have already seen a homework app link up those two camps by matching school children with math and science tutors that can help them with equations. Now Mathpix could prove even more helpful for those struggling with their sums. The free app, which is powered by Desmos, transforms hand-written equations into visual guides with step-by-step solutions to help users improve their math skills.
To begin, users download the app and photograph their math problem with their smartphone camera. The equation can be handwritten or typed and the app supports arithmetic, fractions, algebraic equations, roots, logarithms, trigonometry, integrals, derivatives, and infinite series. Next, Mathpix converts the picture into an interactive image and creates the appropriate graph for the user to explore. Then, they can select the solver tool and Mathpix will provide a step-by-step guide to solving the problem, with advice and tips.
