Buy online tutoring, donate school supplies to kids in need

EduCare is donating a portion of the price of its online tutoring sessions toward making education more accessible to children in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

“Buy one, donate one” initiatives have graced our virtual pages on numerous occasions before, but it’s been a while since we’ve come across one applying the concept to education. Last year we featured FIGS’s effort to donate a school uniform for every tie purchased on its site, and now Virginia-based B Corporation EduCare is donating a portion of the price of its online tutoring sessions toward making education more accessible to children in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Students in need of help with a particular subject area begin by signing up on EduCare’s site for a 50-minute tutoring session at any time of the day or night. They’re then matched up with a subject matter expert, who will lead them through the material at the time of their choice. Pricing varies with the subject matter and tutor. Once the tutoring session is complete, however, EduCare donates a portion of the price paid to helping disadvantaged children in developing parts of the world. Specifically, through a partnership with Pencils of Promise, EduCare’s donations are helping to build schools and classrooms for children around the world. Students can even specify what geographic area they want to help, if they so desire. The video below explains the premise in more detail.
EduCare has already helped more than 800 students through its Global Education Movement, it says. How could your brand help others through a like-minded program? Spotted by: Zachary Love
