Crowdfunding platform is dedicated to the vine and wine market

France's Fundovino is a crowdfunding platform that's dedicated to bringing together potential investors and project owners to stimulate the vine and wine industry.

Crowdfunding as a platform has come a long way since the inception of site such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Over the past few years, we’ve seen more and more niche alternatives come into the fray, from sports-based Pursu.it, to individual healthcare-oriented Watsi. Now France’s Fundovino is a crowdfunding platform that’s dedicated to bringing together potential investors and project owners to stimulate the vine and wine industry.

Much like the sites that have come before it, Fundovino enables anyone interested or involved in the wine industry to finance and launch various projects. These can range from starting up a wine business with vineyards and cellars, to launching new brands, magazines and documentaries. Each project manager has an obligation to work out the feasibilty of their project, but donors eventually have the final say in whether they see value by making a donation. The site has a rewards system, whereby backers also receive unique gifts in return for their support. Once a project reaches the set target the funds are realeased to the project owner, with 3 percent deducated for bank fees and 5 percent going to Fundovino. If the target isn’t raised, donors are eligible for a full refund.

Although Funcdovino is not the first to adopt the crowdfunding model, it’s yet another example of how it could work for niche markets. Are there any other ways crowdfunding could be adapted for your industry?
