3D printing marketplace only sells high quality, curated items

Formsfield is a 3D printing boutique that offers a range of art and design items for the home office — and nothing else.

Consumer 3D printing is still a relatively new industry and it is likely to morph and adapt significantly before settling on a final format. But a new focused marketplace for 3D printed products called Formsfield is taking the industry in a promising direction. Formsfield is a Polish 3D printing boutique that offers a range of art and design items for the home office — and nothing else.

Unlike existing marketplaces, which offer a huge range of unrelated items — such as drone parts and kitchen tools — Formsfield focuses instead on selling a smaller range of high quality items. Products are contributed by individual designers from around the world and each piece undergoes a 48-hour verification process — ensuring it complies with the platforms high standards. Customers can choose whether to stream the design to their own 3D printer or have a ready made item delivered to their home. If they choose the latter, their item will be printed by the nearest of Formsfield’s partners.

Designers receive 80 percent of the royalties for every piece sold. What other areas of design could benefit from a similar curated marketplace?
