Designer conceptualises boots made for walking on the moon

The space shoes are meant to fit like a second or third skin and utilise Nike’s Lunarlon midsole

Spotted: Singapore-based designer Shun Ping Pek has designed a pair of boots meant to be worn on the moon. They have a laceless system, making them convenient for a planetary expedition.

The “Moonwalker” boots are designed with fabric that is uniquely ribbed, which can stretch easily to accommodate for users of different foot-forms and enables a full range of motion. The boots are meant to fit like a second or third skin when you wear them over the suit, which makes it a comfortable and secure footwear for space.

The Nanyang Technological University graduate also used a Lunarlon midsole, which was developed by Nike. This material is a soft yet resilient cushion that allows the force of impact to be evenly distributed on one’s foot. It also makes the boots incredibly lightweight and elastic.
