We’ve already seen a few examples of online services that help freelancers and other small businesses find a place to work. Now joining the ranks of Desk Space Genie and iStopOver, for example, is Desktime, a web app that helps connect those in need of a desk to work at with those who have one to spare. Based in Chicago, Desktime aims β€œto help people find, share, and manage extra space,” in the site’s own words. Toward that end, it allows anyone with empty desk space to list it on the site for rent by the day, week or month. Photos and videos can be included, along with a description of the location, pricing and amenities. Professionals in need of a work space can then browse the site’s offerings for nearby locations; when they find one that looks good, they can even book it online. Whether it’s office space, storage space or a parking space, sellsumers around the globe are jumping at the opportunity to earn a little extra cash. Desktime, meanwhile, currently serves only Chicago and Austin, Texas, but is working on expanding. One to partner with or emulate in other locations?
