For the Makers is a New York-based company that sends out materials and instructions for four to six do-it-yourself craft projects every month.
Hard on the heels of our recent stories about services offering recurring deliveries of organic baby food, single-estate coffees and cotton tampons comes word of yet another new subscription service. Specifically, For the Makers is a New York-based company that sends out materials and instructions for four to six do-it-yourself craft projects every month. Aiming to provide a way for consumers to share “ideas, skills and inspiration,” For the Makers compiles an assortment of hand-picked, high-quality materials for fun do-it-yourself craft projects and delivers them to subscribers’ doors each month. Once these have been received, the company’s website provides how-to-make instructions for the craft project, as well as a space to share photos of the resulting creations with friends and fellow makers online. Priced at USD 29 per month with shipping included, subscriptions also come with online access to expert craft tutorials. For the Makers currently ships only within the United States and its territories, whose craft and hobby industry is valued at about USD 29 billion, according to the Craft & Hobby Association.
