Given all the culinary innovation we’ve seen coming from the increasingly upscale world of food trucks, we weren’t surprised last month to come across an
online service that helps foodies keep track of them all. Now, in a development that makes even more sense, software firm CloudSource Labs has created
FoodTruck FastPass, an Android app that lets food truck vendors connect with and sell to their customers online.
Now available for free on the
Android Market, FoodTruck FastPass aims to connect food trucks and their fans more comprehensively than is possible through the likes of Facebook and Twitter. Tapping Google Maps, for example, the app lets food trucks broadcast their current location to help customers find them. Daily specials and sold-out items can be broadcast using the app as well. Mobile ordering is also enabled by FastPass, meanwhile, as are Groupon-style mobile coupons and loyalty programs. Business intelligence features help with inventory planning, while an included FastPass Receipt Printer updates vendors as to orders that are paid and ready to be fulfilled.
Just as
branded mobile apps have become more or less de rigueur for stationary restaurants, so too the same will likely soon be true for roving food trucks as well. Mobile food vendors around the globe: this one’s for you!
