The Divorce Newspaper is a Japanese innovation that helps broadcast news of a breakup quickly and efficiently to friends and loved ones.
Divorcing couples have proven a ripe niche in recent years, spawning innovations including targeted gift cards, hotel getaways and post-breakup support services, to name just a few examples. The latest spotting? The Divorce Newspaper, a Japanese innovation that helps broadcast news of a breakup quickly and efficiently to friends and loved ones. Rikonshiki is a Japanese company that offers divorce ceremonies for couples who have decided to part ways, and just this past August it also launched its Divorce Newspapers. Couples begin by sharing the details with Rikonshiki, including personal interviews about their history, feelings, and what they’d like to be included, according to a RocketNews24 report. Then, within the week, they get a draft of the resulting newspaper for their approval. Three design styles are available, and the final result is a printable PDF document. Pricing is JPY 11,220 for a one-sided newspaper or JPY 15,490 for a two-sided version. Divorces may have once been the rare exception, but in many parts of the world that’s no longer the case.
